Why choose Australian Training Works?
WHAT IS A GROUP TRAINING ORGANISATION (GTO)?
A GTO is a corporation established to provide training and employment opportunities. GTOs employ apprentices and trainees and are responsible for ensuring that those employees receive suitable training and workplace experience. A GTO will find a suitable ‘host' employer for apprentices and trainees to work with.
Apprentices and trainees employed by GTOs may spend their entire apprenticeship or traineeship with one host employer who can offer them a well-rounded training experience. Alternatively, they may be rotated around a number of host employers who can each offer a specialised area of training.
Employers who may not otherwise have been able to employ an apprentice or trainee have an opportunity to participate in the training system by hosting an apprentice or trainee for a nominated period of time.
ATW is recognised as a GTO in QLD and has met both QLD State Government and national requirements. In QLD, GTOs are collectively the largest employer of apprentices and trainees. They provide a service that is well-recognised and understood within the community and the group training name is associated with quality services.
WHY USE ATW AS YOUR PREFERRED GTO?
Through our suite of services we are able to include cost effective and well managed processes to engage apprentices and trainees. We access, develop, employ, coordinate and manage apprentices and trainees directly within ATW.
ATW legally employs apprentices and trainees which provides hosting arrangements with host employers.
This arrangement frees the host employer from the burden of paperwork, payroll and other administrative duties, as well as providing a safety net for the apprentice or trainee who is assured of continuous work and training.
ATW provides an advantage to host employers allowing for flexible staffing arrangements to meet peak work loads and seasonal variations.
Our unique GTO service includes up to twelve months intensive coaching and mentoring based upon elements of an individualised plan (Employee Assistance Plan) – including provision of wrap-around support services of health wellbeing, financial literacy and career planning. This service is also extended to the employee's immediate family.

SCHOOL TO WORK TRANSITION PROGRAM
ATW has developed and operates its own school to work transition program ‘School and Beyond.'
School and Beyond combines school and work in a manner that will compliment both and supports a pathway through school to real employment or further training and education.
The program is designed to achieve an effective engagement model that includes clear linkages between employer, school, student and family and each group's singular and collaborative responsibilities.
All stakeholders will invest and support the overall outcome, which is students transitioning from school to employment (or further training/education) with an employer they have been prepared for and with to achieve sustainable employment.
RETENTION THROUGH MENTORING AND COACHING
“A mentor is someone more skilled or experienced who offers advice, support, and guidance to facilitate the learning and development of a more junior or less experienced person. Mentoring relationships occur in all aspects of life but are often a key feature of the organisational life where more senior staff take on the role of being a role model, trusted adviser and coach.”
– (extract Monash University, 2003)
ATW believes it is this process, when delivered correctly, that ultimately leads to effective and sustainable retention of people within the labour market.
Our mentorship/coaching process is underpinned by our Individual Capacity Development Framework, designed to capture critical targets, achievements, overall direction and also act as the cornerstone to establishing a positive and proactive relationship with both employee and employer. It is also interactive and allows for the implementation of strategies directing ongoing mentoring/coaching to ensure the individual is supported and developed.
